Reolink

Home security cam company Reolink has announced the launch of its new 16-megapixel Wi-Fi camera at CES 2025 and a series of battery-powered models designed for 24/7 continuous recording on a single charge.

Elevating UHD surveillance to 16MP

As the latest addition to Reolink’s 16MP series, the Duo 3 WiFi is a plug-in security camera that aims to solve the bugaboos of blurriness, blind spots, and slow streaming. Its dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 6 capability assures zippy and reliable live streaming to capture images within its ultra-wide 180-degree view.

I don’t want to underplay the Duo 3’s 16MP resolution as many home security cameras top out at 8MP. With double that resolution and dual 4K sensors, the Duo 3’s ultra high-def clarity will capture the finest details in your surveillance area (like facial features or numbers on a license plate). What’s more, app users can manually zoom in to reveal intricate details.

Reolink credits this level of clarity to its image-stitching algorithm that prompts the dual-lens camera to merge two images into one with virtually no distortion. Couple that capability with an expansive 180-degree view, and you have a consummate surveillance solution for your home or business.

A cool feature of the Duo 3 is its Motion Track capability, which compresses 15-second motion events into a single image. This tech streamlines the process of reviewing footage, saving tons of time when combing through hours of recordings.

The Duo 3 is available now at Reolink’s website for an introductory $30 discount. If you miss that opportunity, Amazon has the device for $179.

Round-the-clock battery-powered protection

Last September, Reolink launched the Altas PT Ultra, a 4K continuous recording battery camera with a 360-degree blindspot-free view that could record up to 96 hours on a single charge.

Reolink has now upped its game for the Atlas Series by pairing a 20,000 mAh battery with a solar panel that extends that figure to 24-hour continuous recording for up to seven days — an impressive selling point for any wireless camera.

Another selling point for the Atlas Series is its pre-record functionality, which captures 10 seconds of footage before an event is detected. The Atlas PT Ultra also boasts Reolink’s ColorX technology, which delivers four times more light than traditional infrared cameras for nighttime footage. Employing an ultra-large F1.0 aperture combined with a 1/1.8-inch sensor, the PT Ultra produces vibrant, full-color images even after nightfall.

The Atlas Series lineup includes the bullet-style 2K Altas with Wi-Fi connectivity, the 4G battery camera Altas Go PT (which also has a 360-degree blindspot-free view), the Argus 4 Pro 4K camera with an 18-degree view and ColorX night vision, and the Altas PT Ultra, now with 24/7 continuous recording.
